Hello All-

First - just a couple of updates. Deep Blue had to cancel their first leg of the trip due to inclement weather, but we still provided our annual donation. Thank you to Scott Shrum for taking the swim buoys out. Thank you to John Mulvihill for taking out the three buoys when entering/exiting the marina. Glad those tasks are completed for the season! 

I wanted to provide an update about the ice-eater installment, monitoring, and volunteer requests.

Darrin and I picked up the ice eaters last week as all are serviced and ready to go. We only have to purchase 2 motors and a few specialized electrical cords so not as expensive as originally thought. We are purchasing extra parts in preparation of any potential ice-eater troubles this year. All are well oiled, repaired when needed, and silicon placement of all locations where cords go into the motor. We were also able to use parts from other additional broken engines that we provided.

As stated several times, we do need volunteers to install them as well as at least 1-2 volunteers for each week from the first week of December to the week of  Feb 28. As a volunteer, You that week will check on the ice eaters to turn them on and off when needed, adjust them when needed,  and report any broken ones to Darrin and I. Any winter damage that may happen in marina this year is the responsibility of the entire membership.   Due to their experience with rough winters in the past, we are hoping that some of those previous volunteers will step up to lead the way with this, but it is also clear that we need additional volunteers.

Please share which weeks you are available and those you definitely cannot. Please share if can do weekends only and dates if not living down here. Please share your cell phone numbers when responding. We will then coordinate the schedule with you. 

Please let us know if you can do this as not responding will be considered a "No". You can respond to this email or text me at 302-528-4783 or Darrin at 484-475-1221. You can also respond to Mark Miller as well as he is collecting names and already has several.

Training will be provided once we get our list of names. We will review the final schedule and share expectations in addition to the day of training. Mark Miller will assist in the training. This will probably happen end of November/ first week of December.

This is not urgent as some of you are probably still making your winter schedules. I will remind you mid-November  (November 13th) of this request.

There have been questions if can a member can use own ice eater at their slip. Please share with Darrin if you are doing this and share the model and how it is going to be secured.  If do this, then that member is responsible for damage to their pilings, bulkhead, and catwalk   and be responsible for their ice eater. CMBC shall not be liable to any damage to their ice-eaters or for any damages incurred as a result of their ice eater not working properly. These members are still responsible for marina damage as the club does pay for the damages to these (but not the boat lifts).

We will be reassessing placement of ice eaters based on last year's damage and review spacing of them. Mark Miller has a diagram of proper location of ice-eaters in marina that he obtained from an expert in ice-eater placement.

Ice eater placement will be Saturday at 10am on 11-14. I am hoping those that have installed them in past will lead with this.
