Hello All-
Per a request from last year, I am will provide a summary of each meeting, but if this causes a low meeting turnout because people are just reading the summaries, then will stop doing this. These are not the official minutes.
First, I did forget to mention a couple of things as Bet and I are very excited about the Civic Association's Family Fun Rodeo this Saturday from 10am to 1pm at the Pavilion complete with an actual rodeo clown and all kinds of rodeo games! Free hot dogs, chips, popcorn, freeze pops and soft drinks! They do need volunteers. Bet and I will be attending and volunteering as first time the rodeo makes it to Crystal Beach.
There is also a Civic Association bake sale on the bluff from 9am to noon on Saturday with a rain location change in Emsley garage if needed.
We are blessed to have two great clubs supporting the community. Hope to see you at both!
Also, I forgot to give a big thank you to Tom Chawluk for taking all of the garbage bags from the beach clean-up in two different trips! There were about 15-20 of them so saved money not getting a trash company. Thank you again, Tom.
Here are a few summary points form the meeting (but certainly not all of them).
2. Dan Short has volunteered to help with beach maintenance throughout the Summer as he did last year. The beach looked great last year so thanks, Dan, for doing that. He is working with Teresa Smart and I know Dave Henger uses a rake attachment on the back of his Gator to help as well. Dan does need volunteers though so please reach out to him.
3. To save $3500, we will be doing 2-3 "Cliff Days' to at least clear the brush on the cliff that blocks us from seeing the road and boats on cliff side ( not the entire cliff). The club has purchased equipment to do that. We will try week days and weekends to see which works best. Stay tuned for the first one
4. Boat Club picnic is July 11, The drop box for payment is in Dawn Fluman's yard. Prices go up July 1! We have fireworks so donations are being accepted and hoping to go past last year's $4000 achievement as we already have a donation for $ 1000. No donation is too small. We need raffle items in the $50 plus range as they are starting to come in including Steelers- Ravens tickets, Phillies tickets, and one year of dues paid in 2027!! We need volunteers for the picnic as well.
5. Donna Swain, our Events Planner, is looking to secure Chesapeake City as this year's Poker Run location. Stay tuned for date.
.
6. We discussed that we all have to be very patient and understanding when it comes to HarborMaster responsibilities (due to resignation) as right now not doing anything proactive, and it may take time for repairs as now have to contract everything out. All have to lower their expectations for now.
7. We have time but need volunteers to help Mark Miller come up with a volunteer list and schedule for next year's ice eaters. This will be a team effort and done by Committee versus a true leader for now.
8. Gerard Baffone Jr is the newest member and let it be known he was late for his first meeting. 🙂
9. Second consecutive audit was completed with no issues. Thank you to Bonnie Aubry, Jim Brackbill, and Chuck Berkheiser for that.
10. New Boat Lift Policy was presented and discussed. It is now on the Website.
11. No looking at "pulling back" beach option to help reduce Winter sandbar can be done without a member making a motion for discussion on $6500-10K. If any motion is discussed and approved this year, then funds will have to come out of this year's "bulkhead repair" finds. Any payment we can make into 2027 due to delays will come out of next year's general funds.
Team, we are going into the season with issues, but I am already excited about how people are volunteering to do what is best for the club. The club cannot survive with the "I did my hour" mentality as that is only for your benefit to not pay a Volunteer Fee. I am glad so many are embracing that. There were so many people at the beach clean-up that already had "their hour" completed so thankful we have so many thinking like that.
Let's have a great start to Boating and Beach this Summer
Gerry

Please be sure to notify club secretary, Dawn Fluman, of any address, phone number or email address changes ASAP in order to help with club communication to all of our members. We are trying to notify members via email of all communications to help reduce costs like paper, ink, envelopes and postage.
We will continue to send communication via USPS to those preferring that method. But either way, we need current updated information on all our members so be sure to notify Dawn of any changes via email
cmboatclub.secretary@gmail.com or 494 Blackbird Landing Road, Townsend, DE 19734.
