The Executive Committee is calling a special meeting for Saturday April 25 at 10am at Hacks Point firehouse location.
We are requesting ALL members, which includes of course our Associate members, to attend as this overlaps with other critical issues that will pertain to all.
As you know, there have been issues this winter with the sandbar and we also have loose pilings/catwalks that need to be addressed. This has been the coldest winter in terms of most consecutive days staying below freezing since 1979 and the ice-eaters could not keep up with this as some froze themselves or just could not keep their space free of ice. We will discuss more at the April Meeting.
Damage done to catwalks and pilings are the responsibility of the boat club. Damage done to any personal equipment such as lifts and canopies are the responsibility of the individual owner.
There have been many discussions this winter with various engineers, contractors, and government (State and Army Corps) agencies and we want to share the history, background as well as current and future next actions so you have the same information we have.
This meeting will discuss only the marina issues as all other topics will be addressed at the normal time, which will be at the boat club meeting at 9am on May 16.
We feel that this subject needs a separate meeting as discussing all of this at first meeting will compromise the details you need to know as well compromise the other subjects that need to be discussed.
The beach clean up will be May 9 at 9am at marina.
The boat club picnic – always the second Saturday of July - is July 11 this year. We need fireworks donations, strong attendance and great raffle prizes – sports memorabilia, tickets for events etc.
Lastly, I asked members on the EC Committee to place their existing policies on the website to increase transparency of the boat club. They are there now and more to come. Policies are decided by each chair and can change based on what works for each of them.
We do anticipate the marina will be open and on schedule for the start of the boating season
Thanks and really hoping to see all of you at the Hacks Point meeting last Saturday of April.
