Hello All-
First, what a great poker run. Thank you, Donna, for another great poker run and thanks to her volunteers - Chris Morgan, Darby Morgan, Sean Swain, and Lisa Mulvihill.
Congratulations to the winners with some incredible hands - Mike Scharr ($750), Chris Morgan ($500), and Stephanie Smith ($230).
We made $1795. If you include that with the picnic profits ($4144) and the T-Shirt profits ($1552), then we made a total for fundraising of $7491 or approximately 7% of our 2026 income - not bad!!!!!
Attached is a group photo - what a beautiful day!
Second, We had one person nominated at the meeting for treasurer, but that person backed out. I have asked Ed Rowe our Nomination Chair and the officers to extend the nomination process until Labor Day Monday as I have heard a couple people are interested. I hope we get a couple of people as it is always great for the club to have choices. The caveat though is if anybody is interested, they have to text Ed Rowe at 302-463-3795 and nominate themselves to streamline the process.
We will have meaningful elections on September 19, 2026 as there are two candidates for Commodore and again may have a couple of choices hopefully for Treasurer. Please make every effort to attend, but remember per the by-laws for Elections, this has to be at least your second meeting you have attended this year to vote.
Third, we will be voting on dues for 2027. The EC created three scenarios for dues increases - $200, $250, $300. John Swain made a motion to delay voting as the potential new Commodore will have his own dues increase suggestion(s). The challenge to this Motion is two meetings are needed for a vote about dues per the by-laws so this Motion comes with an extra meeting after the elections. Please note this as September 19 will not be the last meeting of the season. The membership voted to not even review the numbers of these three scenarios; I am not sure why one would not want to see these numbers to get some kind of baseline as nobody was voting on anything at this meeting and I certainly did not want another meeting, but that is what the membership wanted so I am fine with that.
The good news is you can review more scenarios and therefore more options - the three the current EC created and however many scenarios Ed Groce may bring at September's meeting.
We will have a normal meeting and then the election so we will have time to review the options on September 19 for a vote at a future meeting. The date of next meeting will be up to the Commodore, but it has to be at least two weeks from when the Secretary can send the by-law announcement so meeting will go into October. FYI - The email about discussing dues increases went out on August 10. The first time this option of an additional meeting was discussed was at the August 15 meeting .
September 19 is also the Golf Cart Poker run.
Pleas enjoy the rest of your Summer as plenty of boating is left.
Gerry

We are trying to notify members via email of all communications to help reduce costs like paper, ink, envelopes and postage.
We will continue to send communication via USPS to those preferring that method. But either way, we need current updated information on all our members so be sure to notify Dawn of any changes via email
